24 karat Gold Delorean (2 Comments)

There were originally going to be 100 Gold Deloreans to be produced in 1981 for the American Express Christmas Catalogue, but only two were made.

The Deloreans were offered to American Express Gold cardholders, appearing in the December 1979 American Express catalog. Each gold-plated Delorean was priced at $85,000, which was a lot for 1979. Insurance rates at the time came to approximately $1,000 a month because a small door ding had a potential repair cost of $24,000!

The gold Deloreans now have a estimated value at $125,000.00

You know these badboys were originally built in my hometown, Belfast. Probably one of my only claims to fame, well that & the Titanic....

Really? Were they all for export or did you see some floating about? I sat in the movie one for a bit at an exhibition when I was small.
